I just launched my new single, “prevail”.
My parents’ families were expelled from their homes at the end of World War II, which caused incredible bitterness and resentments that lingered over decades and was never directly addressed. “Prevail” is about my conscious journey to overcome those poisonous thoughts and to break free from that past that never was mine to begin with.

This isn’t my war, and it’s not yours
And still we carry on
About the home that’s lost to you
And that I’ve never known
The faceless hate instilled in you
By your elders and their elders
You’ve passed it on to me
With its ever-kindling fires
But your darkness won’t destroy me
I will prevail!
Overcome the past that haunts me
Your hate will fail!
Though the past has long cold fingers
You won’t keep locked up my soul
Everywhere your darkness lingers
I still am whole
In a world that’s lost its borders
Where we’re roaming far and wide
I find I run up against barbed wire
My mind’s trenches built of pride
How I wish that I could outgrow
My thoughts’ anger-studded keep
From its pois’nous moat corruption
And despair into me seep
And your darkness won’t destroy me
I will prevail!
Overcome the past that haunts me
Your hate will fail!
Though the past has long cold fingers
You won’t keep locked up my soul
Everywhere your darkness lingers
I still am whole
Let fight those whose war’s ongoing
Let bleed those whose blood’s still flowing
Let howl those who still are crowing
Those who close their eyes from knowing
And your darkness won’t destroy me
I will prevail!
Overcome the past that haunts me
Your hate will fail!
Though the past has long cold fingers
You won’t keep locked up my soul
Everywhere your darkness lingers
I still am whole
