Some of the most toxic relationships we carry with us all our lives. I‘ve fallen from grace, again I’ve fallen from grace, againSilent treatment all over once moreFilled up to the brim with guiltChildhood clockworks kick in, like before How could I even dare protestUngrateful boy, you’re such a failureStop whining ’bout your boundariesDo as I please, do yourself a favour My life’s delicate candleYou snuff it so casuallyDarkness that I can’t handleFills the void oh so deadlyMy life’s delicate candle My soul’s delicate flameIt flickers oh so feeblyYour blade so deep in my gutsYou twist oh so deeply I’ve fallen from grace, againViolence can take on so many formsStanding

Excited to release the “Irrlicht Clubmix” of my song, “prevail”! I met Markus Nauli, the musical mastermind behind Swiss darkwave / electro band, “Irrlicht”, one night after he’d been DJing at X-tra in Zurich inquiring about a song on his setlist. I was overjoyed when he offered to remix one of my songs … Love what he did with it, but listen for yourself: I still am whole This isn’t my war, and it’s not yoursAnd still we carry onAbout the home that’s lost to youAnd that I’ve never known The faceless hate instilled in youBy your elders and their eldersYou’ve passed it on to meWith its ever-kindling fires But your

Today I‘m releasing my latest song, “dance”. This last year has been challenging on so many levels. It‘s also been so surreal – the uncertainty, the fear, the lockdown, the isolation. Sheltering in place, we unlearned being around others. Music is a relief. Dancing in solitude as well, but only to a point. I started writing this song when I was walking through northern Spain on the Camino de Santiago more than four years ago, when I was in dire need of alone-time to regain some clarity of mind. The original version of the song was about my favorite music place in Zurich, X-Tra, which may not reopen even once the

I just launched my new single, “prevail”. My parents’ families were expelled from their homes at the end of World War II, which caused incredible bitterness and resentments that lingered over decades and was never directly addressed. “Prevail” is about my conscious journey to overcome those poisonous thoughts and to break free from that past that never was mine to begin with. Today I’m launching my first single, “purpose”. This is the result of a multi-year journey – one morning in early 2016 I woke up with the hook playing in my head, and the first version of the lyrics dates back to March of that year. Finding purpose was the key topic of my coaching sessions back then … The song’s seen countless rearrangements and discarded recordings. Perfect is the enemy of good though: At some point you just have to finish a piece and move on. It’s about searching for a meaning and how, once you find it, it’ll be with you, always. It’s also about that drive to improve, to

Built myself some gobos (acoustic panels)! Many Swiss houses have their own air-raid shelters in the basement. I’ve repurposed ours for my vocal recordings but haven’t been entirely happy with sound reflections from the bare concrete; and the Caotica Eyeball that I used has some drawbacks too. That’s why I now set out to create my own gobos (instructions). Nearly done with five of them! It was good to be building something with my hands once again, it’s been a while. What remains to be done: Wrap the gobos in fabric Properly mount the gobos on the walls Stay tuned – release of my first single is this coming Thursday,
Continue readingAnd … I’m back.
A few years ago, I had restarted making music. Back then I thought: I know how to sing; I know how to write music and record it and can brush up on some production skills with YouTube videos. I’ll create a few songs, put them out on YouTube and SoundCloud, and there’ll be a lot of great resonance. Boy – was I wrong. It was quite painful to read some of the comments from independent reviewers. Many people probably would have given up. Giving up was not an option though; I need music as a medium to express my view of the world. So I dug in and started putting time

One of the tracks I managed to finish the weekend before last was ‘matter’, for which I had re-recorded the vocals months ago and finally go around to properly mix down. Enjoy!

Getting ready for another full day in the studio (aka Man Cave) – Coffee? Check. Water? Check. Goals for the day? Check. … and it turned out to have been a very good weekend indeed, finishing with me sending out four tracks for mastering! Way to go!

Lots of stuff going on, and I created my first YouTube playlist, inserting one of my own songs in between fantastic tracks by the likes of VNV Nation, Rotersand, Covenant, Depeche Mode, Rammstein and others:
